wfc Celebrates Grand Opening with Launch of Exhibition from the Louvre Museum, Paris

(Beijing, 17 June 2010) The World Financial Centre ("wfc") Beijing today celebrates its grand opening with the launch of the 'Sculpture in Movement' Asia Tour from the Louvre Museum, Paris -- the first time this exhibition is held in a commercial venue.

The exhibition, which is part of wfc's ongoing commitment to bringing world-class art and cultural events to the people of the city, invites the audience to touch the 22 replicas of famous works in the Louvre's collection and works by internationally acclaimed Beijing artist, Sui Jianguo.

The exhibits aim to illustrate the five movements - effort, run, dance, take off and fall - mostly represented by Western sculptures for which oriental sculptures also embrace. Together they exemplify the classical virtues of equilibrium and posture.

Speaking at the official inauguration of the exhibition in front of some 300 guests, Peter Lee, Vice-Chairman, Henderson Land Group said, "The World Financial Centre is not only the city's newest landmark in the Central Business District, it is also the latest destination for art and culture for the people of Beijing. The Louvre Museum exhibition marks the beginning of a series of art and cultural happenings for the community and tenants to enjoy."

Echoing Mr Lee's comments, Ms Catherine Guillou, Director of Public Policy of the Louvre Museum adds, "Our philosophy is that art should be an integral part of everyone's lives. By staging our exhibition at wfc, we will be able to reach many people making art accessible to all."

To highlight wfc's spectacular architectural design, which is conceptualized by world-famous architect Cesar Pelli as a pair of "twin crystal jewel boxes", a giant 90m high red ribbon is tied around the East Tower.

The exhibition will be at wfc's Winter Garden from June 18 to September 30, 2010. The exhibition opens from 10am to 8pm, Monday to Sunday. Admission is free. Special guided tours will be available daily in morning and afternoon sessions.
