Henderson Land Wins Business Leadership in Sustainability Award at WorldGBC Asia Pacific Leadership in Green Building Awards 2022

Henderson Land Development Company Limited ("Henderson Land" or “the Group”) (Stock code: 12) is delighted to announce that it has won the prestigious Business Leadership in Sustainability Award at the Asia Pacific Leadership in Green Building Awards 2022, organised by the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC). This international recognition is once again a resounding affirmation of the Group’s leadership and unrelenting excellence in advancing sustainable development worldwide.

Nominated by the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) as the city’s representative for the WorldGBC Asia Pacific Leadership in Green Building Awards 2022, Henderson Land competed for the Business Leadership in Sustainability Award with fellow contenders nominated by 15 Green Building Councils across the Asia Pacific region. Selected as the finalist alongside two other companies from Singapore and Australia, Henderson Land has emerged as the proud winner of the Award, which was announced during the award presentation ceremony held on 23 November in Bali, Indonesia.

First held in 2014, the WorldGBC Asia Pacific Leadership in Green Building Awards showcases and celebrates businesses’ and innovators’ extraordinary achievements in sustainability across the Asia Pacific region, and it is the only award programme that recognises exemplary green building achievements in the region. This year’s winners were assessed and selected by an independent panel of 14 internationally renowned judges.

Henderson Land’s leading position in sustainable development has long been widely recognised on both local and international levels. At the biennial Green Building Award 2021 jointly organised by the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) and the Professional Green Building Council (PGBC), the Group bagged a total of six accolades, including the Pioneer Award in Green Building Leadership (Developer), the industry’s top honour, and the Grand Award (New Buildings Category: Projects Under Construction and/or Design - Commercial), which was attributed to The Henderson, the Group’s highly anticipated flagship commercial development at Murray Road, Central.

Henderson Land’s 2030 Sustainability Vison is underpinned by four primary drivers also known as G.I.V.E., namely Green for Planet, Innovation for Future, Value for People, and Endeavour for Community. They are linked to the corresponding United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs), serving as a guide for advancing the Group’s future sustainable performance. As part of its Sustainability Vision, the Group has pledged to reduce the energy intensity of its Hong Kong property portfolio by 20% from the 2019 baseline year by 2030.
