Henderson Development Group Launches Lucky Draws to Incentivise Early Vaccination by Giving Away 300 Taels of Gold Contributing a Total Worth of HK$10 Million Rewards Together with Towngas’ Vaccination Promotion Campaign

Henderson Development Group is launching a series of six lucky draws entitled "Early Vaccination Incentive Scheme", to be held between June and September, to motivate and incentivise the public to get vaccinated at the soonest. The lucky draws will give away 300 taels of 9999 pure gold in total, 60 taels of which (valued at over HK$1 million) will go to the Grand Prize. Other smaller prizes include shopping vouchers worth over HK$1 million in total. Together with the HK$3-million vaccination promotion campaign introduced by Towngas (a subsidiary of the Group), the Group is offering prizes worth close to HK$10 million in total.

The "Early Vaccination Incentive Scheme" is sponsored by the Henderson Development Anti-Epidemic Fund, a privately-financed charity established by the Lees’ family. Mr. Lee Ka Shing, Martin, Chairman of Henderson Land Group and of Towngas, said: "The next few months will be critical to Hong Kong’s mass vaccination campaign. To motivate and incentivise citizens to get vaccinated as soon as possible and to build a safety net for the city, the Group is launching a series of lucky draws to help get the vaccination momentum going in the community. Giving away gold is direct and flexible. We hope the prizes will appeal to the general public."

To be eligible for the Scheme, participants (including permanent and non-permanent Hong Kong residents, as well as employees of the Group) must be aged 18 or above and have received their two COVID-19 vaccine doses in Hong Kong. Further details of the lucky draws will be announced in due course. The first lucky draw is scheduled to open for online registration in late June. Starting from July, a computer-based lucky draw will be held once every two weeks, giving away prizes with a total worth of over HK$6.3 million.

For each of the first five lucky draws, 20 winners will each receive one tael of 9999 pure gold; another 100 winners will each receive HK$1,000 worth of shopping mall e-vouchers^; and an additional 100 winners will each receive HK$1,000 worth of cash vouchers*.

The prizes for the final lucky draw to be held in September are as follows:

  • Grand Prize (1 winner) – 60 taels of 9999 pure gold, valued at over HK$1 million
  • Second Prize (2 winners) – each will receive 30 taels of 9999 pure gold, valued at over HK$500,000
  • Third Prize (8 winners) – each will receive 10 taels of 9999 pure gold, valued at over HK$170,000

Other prizes include HK$1,000 worth of shopping mall e-vouchers^ (100 winners) and HK$1,000 worth of cash vouchers* (100 winners).
^ The shopping mall e-vouchers can be used via the H•COINS mobile app at seven of the designated Henderson Land shopping malls
* The cash vouchers can be used at designated supermarkets and retail stores under Henderson Land Group, namely UNY, APITA, Citistore and GUU SAN

In addition, to boost the vaccination rates among its employees, Henderson Land is setting up a cash incentive programme, under which each fully vaccinated employee will receive a cash prize of HK$1,000 once the company’s vaccination rate reaches 70%, and each fully vaccinated employee will receive an additional HK$2,000 in cash once the vaccination rate reaches 85% by the end of September. On top of that, each fully vaccinated employee will be entitled to a total of four days of paid "vaccination leave". For each vaccine dose received before the end of September, employees are eligible for two days of paid leave. Such an arrangement is aimed at giving vaccinated staff sufficient time to rest and recover post-vaccination.

Since the emergence of COVID-19 in early 2020, Henderson Land Group has joined hands with the local community in combatting the coronavirus. The privately-financed Henderson Development Anti-Epidemic Fund established by the Group’s Chairmen Dr. Lee Ka Kit, Peter, and Mr. Lee Ka Shing, Martin, has contributed over HK$120 million worth of anti-epidemic supplies and monetary support to date.
